Learning to Serve

A few weeks ago, Kelsey went on a mission trip with a group of 9th graders from our church.
We sent about 30 14-year olds to Reynosa, Mexico.

The trip was organized and supervised by Mission Discovery.
http://www.missiondiscovery.com/.
Mission Discovery has set up a "rustic" campsite on the American side of the border, so students come back to the United States to sleep and worship each night.

Students worked in teams to build houses for two families.
Kelsey swears she's never worked so hard or gotten so tired in her life!! (But she's convinced she could build a house all by herself now!)

Our kids also worked with and loved on the children,
which was, of course, Kelsey's favorite part.

While I'm a huge believer in mission work, it was still hard for me to send my precious daughter to a foreign country (no less a border town!) I prayed about it all year, but when the time finally came, I had great peace. I knew that God would use her for good AND could also do good work in her. I'm so glad I let her have this experience.
